Amateur Radio

I have been licensed since 1976. My callsign is G4JQB and before that G8MLZ. I am particularly interested in Data Communication and am a member of BARTG.

 

Model Railway

I have an N gauge model railway created by my father and "adjusted" by me whenever I visited to fix those signals that would not work. My main interest is in the control and signalling using electronics and computers. My time working with signalling and control engineers at London Underground gave me a real understanding of the real thing.

Genealogy

My wife's family goes back thirty generations and I have collated over seven hundred names using the shareware program Brother's Keeper.

 

Local History

We have a very active local society here in Bathford. At the last meeting we were enthralled by some 1895 magic lantern equipment that gave as good a show as the latest DVDs.

Piano

I am striving to play the piano. There is a very good magazine recently launched called 'Pianist' that has a good collection of music scores along with a CD showing how it should be done.

Electronics

I am interested in most forms of electronics. As times permit I intend to add links to the sites I use.
